All behaviour has meaning
A key point to remember about children is that all behaviour has meaning.
This is a useful starting point when we attempt to work out why children behave in a particular way and helps not us not to go down the path of thinking they are simply being manipulative or scheming.
School preparation and transition are the next steps after readiness for school has been determined.
Across Australia parents can choose from a wide range of schools for their children. As parents, you now have real choice in the type of education that you want for your child.
Ready or Not?
The adult role is a significant one in providing consistent messages early in a child’s life that they are valued and inherently okay people. It doesn’t mean all the behaviours they exhibit are okay, but we need to learn to separate the behaviour from the child.
We most often consider how to guide and change our children’s behaviour when things are going wrong. It is important to have some consistent strategies that both parent and child are able to use and respond to consistently.
It is about what we do before things go wrong that is most helpful in setting up a household that reduces frustrations and some of the misbehaviours that occur at those times.
Proactive strategies
