Australian Developmental Curriculum Mentor

Emily has always had an unwavering commitment to quality education. Throughout her teaching career she has had a wide range of experience in all curriculum areas and grade levels at a range of schools across the state. Much of Emily's teaching has been as a Prep Teacher and Junior School Co-ordinator; for the past few years she has worked in a Leading Teachers role while also teaching in the senior grades.

As a teacher, Emily's goal has always been to not only teach but to also nurture the children in her care so that they become both valued and valuable members of society. She believes that the Australian Developmental Curriculum helps to lay the foundations for children to become successful and happy life long learners.

Over the last couple of years Emily have been part of a Leadership Team that was instrumental in implementing the Australian Developmental Curriculum on a whole school bases and she personally applied this pedagogy in her level 4 classroom practice. She has observed first hand the great benefits and extensive learning that occurs in an Australian Developmental Curriculum classroom due to the rigorous planning, explicit teaching and learning and extensive assessment practices that sit along side the developmental domains that form the basis of this approach.

Emily has worked as a generalist classroom teacher, specialist teacher, Jump Rope For Heart Regional Co-ordinator, Leading Teacher - curriculum co-ordination and development, VCAA reference group member and presenter in the areas of the Thinking Curriculum and Assessment and Reporting.
