Do you sometimes feel like you just don’t know what to do next in your parenting? Do you wonder why your children behave the way they do and what to do about it?
This presentation provides an overview of some of the reasons why children present with challenging behaviours and gives some practical strategies for parents to effectively support and guide children’s behaviour in appropriate ways.
Parents are able to raise questions at the presentation and this provides an opportunity for specific issues to be addressed. This session is most suitable for parents of two to ten year olds.
Resilience, self-esteem, strength of character and mental wellbeing are central to being able to manage the challenges of life. These qualities make us independent and confident.
Being able to bounce back, take a risk, have a go and solve problems are important life skills for children and adults. Being resilient helps us to reach realistically for our goals and to be able to tackle difficult times. This presentation provides strategies to help your child build resilience and a positive self-esteem.
Balance in life is key to happiness and this is the central premise of this session. Setting patterns now in your child’s life will influence the way they approach their teenage years and adulthood.
This presentation highlights the importance for families and children to avoid becoming caught up in a rushed and hurried world. We provide examples of how careful we have to be to not over value extra curricula activities, how to slow down a little and discuss ways in which family and home life can influence later lifestyle choices and behaviours.
This presentation encourages the need for parents and schools to look more broadly at what success means and what elements may constitute a successful and rewarding life. It asks the question; “what is success?” and looks into ideas that go far beyond academia.
This presentation considers the complexities of life and what contributes to a successful and rewarding life. Practical ideas and strategies are provided which include, the importance of self expression, reaching out when you need to, taking on challenges, meaningful relationships and effective communication. This session highlights the importance of viewing life and success in a holistic way that is not measured simply by money or career but by relationships, choices and a positive self esteem.
Childhood needs to be nurtured and play forms a key component of a child’s development. In modern times, it can be seen as increasingly hard to hold onto giving your child a childhood!
This presentation gives examples of the major aspects of childhood and child development and focuses on what children need most in their early years. It highlights the importance and richness of play and how learning, life skills, self-esteem and resilience are all promoted through encouraging and allowing children to play.
How do you know when your child is ready? What does readiness mean and why is it important?
This session considers the importance of sending a child to school when they have the maturity to make the most of their learning and to enjoy their 13 years of formal schooling rather than just “cope”. It is the journey that matters and how you feel about yourself along the way.
Readiness indicators and support strategies for parents are provided in this session for parents wishing to think about when to start their child at school and preschool.

Once you have made the decision your child is going to school and chosen a school, there is the consideration of how best to help your child to make a smooth and easy transition to school where they feel as secure and relaxed as possible.
This presentation provides many practical and important strategies for the family and for the child on how to prepare for this importance transition.
This presentation is designed to support centres and schools running or intending to run a Bush Kinder/ Nature Learning program. A one-hour presentation and information session for parents will outline the long-term learning and wellbeing benefits of immersing children in nature and why, more than ever, children need to spend time connecting with the natural environment outdoors. Our experienced Early Childhood/Bush Kinder consultant/s will address concerns and questions alongside staff to assist positive community engagement.
Customised sessions are where you choose a topic/area of support from our list, or a topic customised to suit your school, centre or community’s needs. Customised sessions are conducted nationally and internationally. These sessions are for educators and/or for parents.

This PD was one of the most valuable to understand Education Research Projects, especially how to utilise students interest. It provided clarity to both the teacher and student roles within this aspect of the Walker pedagogy. I appreciated the way Shona really targeted each individual teachers needs for the lesson and allowed us to have discussions throughout the day about our practice, how we could implement these aspects into the classroom and school and where to next in our own school's learning journey. This PD was fabulous! It confirmed to me that we were on the right path in thinking in developmental terms rather that thinking in terms of the framework in regards to children's learning and development. I have discussed this briefly with staff at our centre but will do so in more detail at our first staff meeting next term. We had our 'Assessment Visit' so all of our energy was being put towards finalising everything in preparation. It just makes more sense to me and identifies areas individual children need to work on and perhaps be referred for specialist help.

This was a great course, lots of opportunity share ideas with only 10 participants. having been out of the mainstream environment for 15 years and working in early intervention, this was a great course to remind me of some of the things that I use to do but also to gain an understanding of some of the changes that have occurred over this time. it also assisted to clear up some of those urban myths in regards to documenting (what it needs to look like) and what must be on a planning document.

Brilliant as ever. My 2 light bulb moments - Firstly I realised the literacy and numeracy areas are resource areas rather than sit down and work areas so will be resetting them Monday. Secondly I am making several adjustments to the way I use your planning format - I had wandered off the path just a little bit!!
I found the revision of the value of play helpful as a resource for parents. I particularly enjoyed the practical elements of the PD as often we know the theory but it is helpful to have practical ways to implement the theory. I also gain lots of ideas and information to support the staff at my centre. Thank you.
I definitely gained some new ways of thinking about how to use materials. Also, the value of Combining different types of media and using the correct paper. I also learned about some glue/ adhesive products I was previously unaware of. Overall an enjoyable and interesting day.
