Documentation and planning for the EYLF

Bridie Raban

Assessment and Learning – Second Edition, authored by well known Essential Resources author Bridie Raban, is a comprehensive resource that provides invaluable insights into documenting, planning, and assessing children’s learning and how this relates to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF 2.0).

Key Sections:

  • Documenting Children’s Learning: The first section delves into the essentials of documenting children’s learning, explaining the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of EYLF documentation. Engage with discussion questions designed to prompt effective reflective practice among early childhood educators and directors.
  • Planning and Assessment: Subsequent sections focus on linking early childhood planning and assessment to the EYLF principles and practices, covering:
    • Intentional Practice: Learn how planning is related to intentional practice, ensuring that educational activities are purposeful and aligned with learning goals.
    • Forms of Assessment: This resource explores the various forms of assessment in early childhood education, assessment for learning, assessment of learning and assessment as learning.

The central focus of Assessment and Learning is the idea that documentation, planning, and assessment are pivotal in fostering each child’s development and well-being through rich learning opportunities.
