What you will learn from this session:

Are you looking to extend your centres learning program to offer offsite nature based Bush Kinder learning? Bush Kinder - Starting an Outdoor Learning Program is designed to empower and guide early childhood educators on a journey to unlock the full potential of nature-based education. This session can be viewed as a stand alone professional development session or can be completed in conjunction with the sessions outlined in our Bush Kinder Certification pathway. Our Bush Kinder Certification pathway can assist teams choosing to implement a 2 year planning timeframe.

Participants attending Bush Kinder - Starting an Outdoor Learning Program will:

  • Gain research knowledge, pedagogical theory and practical skills to connect and extend the centre-based learning and curriculum to a nature based program.
  • Build educators confidence to support children’s holistic learning in a nature based program. Bush Kinder provides a unique opportunity for children to explore, play, and learn in a natural outdoor environment, fostering a deep connection with the world around them.
  • See how Bush Kinder enhances children’s development, encompassing physical, social, emotional, and cognitive aspects.
  • Witness how Bush Kinder provides a natural setting for children to develop resilience, problem-solving skills, and adaptability – qualities crucial for lifelong learning.
  • Learn to trust the initiative of children to resource their own learning as imagination is sparked through Bush Kinder's ever-changing canvas.
  • Be reminded of the opportunities for children to collaborate, share discoveries, and build relationships as they explore the outdoor environment together.
  • Give educators the confidence to articulate the benefits of learning in nature to parents and caregivers. Understand effective benefit/risk management strategies.
  • Be given practical tips and ideas for resourcing your Bush Kinder program.
  • Be shown videos and virtual tours show children and educators in a natural outdoor learning environment.
  • Benefit from the knowledge and experiences of our Bush Kinder consultants.
